After Your Visit

If you had a sample/biopsy taken today

Pathology takes 10 days to two weeks, and occasionally longer where a specimen needs extended processing. We will contact you about your result either way — no news does not mean good news, and you do not need to chase it in the meantime. How results are given →

How to look after your biopsy wound

If the biopsy area does not look right

Contact us if a treated area becomes increasingly painful after the first few days, if redness spreads outwards, if there is discharge or a fever, or if bleeding does not stop with ten minutes of firm pressure. These are uncommon, and they are worth a phone call rather than a wait.
Our afterhours care line is open 9am - 9pm 7 days a week on 08 9271 2522

I have had freezing of sun spots

Treatments that you might be starting

Two things worth doing between now and your next check

  1. Check your own skin once a month. You are looking for a spot that is changing — in size, shape, colour or feel — or one that looks different from your others. Many melanomas are first noticed by the person who has them.
  2. Do not wait for your next check if something changes. Skin lesions are living cells and can change at any time. A new or changing spot is worth a Spot Check now rather than a note to mention it in twelve months. Most insect bites, pimples, scratches start to get better after 3 weeks. If a lesion continues to change or enlarge after 3 weeks. Start to plan for a Spot Check.
