Our goal at Skin Check WA is to provide a high level care in your skin cancer treatment.
Some of the techniques and materials to minimise scarring and to optimise your comfort include the following:
- A wound is closed separately in the top and lower layers of the skin. This allows the use of different suture materials both both and differential use of tension to balance strength and final appearance.
- Dissolvable sutures are used in the lower layer as internal stitches to provide strength and improve long term scar appearance.
- Special solution is used to pH balance local anaesthetic before use, to reduce stinging on injection.
- Additional time and electocautery is used in every case to seal blood vessels before suturing, to reduce the risk of bleeding.
- Customised compressive dressings are applied afterwards by our specially trained nursing team to reduce bleeding and swelling.
