Freckle Checkle Day – 13th August 2016
Fund raising for winter skin cancer awareness
On 13th August we held our second Freckle Checkle, a family fund raising day organized by Skin Check WA where all our doctors and staff volunteer their time to perform free skin checks. All our normal gaps are waived and 100% of all Medicare billings are donated to our chosen beneficiaries MelanomaWA and ECU Melanoma Research Group.
Freckle Checkle aims to spread the health message that early detection is key in winning the fight against the skin cancer epidemic. Skin cancers develop through the year but are not as obvious to us when we are covered up. The Freckle Checkle Team would like to encourage people not to forget about their skin in winter.
This year we held it across three of our clinics and performed skin checks on over 300 people. We raised $12,000. This topped our efforts in 2015, with close to $10,000 raised on the inaugural Freckle Checkle day.
We would like to thank Sunbella Parasols, Etain Skin Hair Body, Inglewood Hotel, La Roche-Posay, Ego Pharmaceuticals Pty Ltd and Virtue Builders
We wish to thank the following for their support, Clinton Heal and all MelanomaWA volunteers, ECU Professor Mel Ziman and her team at the ECU Melanoma Research Group, Dino Djublic of Perth Glory, Hayden Ballantyne of AFL Dockers, Woody of Hit929 radio and Bonnie Stacey for sharing her story
